I have an 82 300sd. The auxillary cooling fan has quit working(it ran all the time).
At first I thought the fan had gone bad, but then I accidentaly found that the fan will run if I press on the fan. I can "push in" on the screw sticking out the front of the fan motor and the fan starts running (no I am not kidding). Before I run out and buy another fan I want to make sure that the one I have is bad. Is the fan bad or could it be something else? |

That one has failed. This is the most common way that they fail.

Due to motor design you are putting pressure on worn out motor brushes & then they touch armature again. New motor needed!
