This car is undoubtedly no newer than '67. Model year '68 was the introduction of the new 114-115 chassis with the /8 (slash 8). It is probably a 200D which has a 5 main bearing crankshaft as opposed to a 190D which has only 3 main bearings. Notorious rust buckets.

The 114/5 cars did come out in 1968, but the first "year" for these cars to my understanding is 1969. They got their name for stroke-8, or /8, is after 1968, though quite a few made in 1968. My point is, if you walked into a dealership in 1968, finnies were still the cars on the floor. So, this can be a 1968 car.

It could be a 68 but the vast majority of 68 models were the new 114/115 body style. I drove a gas version (62 190c) of this car for 5 years - it was a pretty reliable piece but it was the WORST car from the rust perspective that I've ever owned.
