My 1987 300D started experiencing an "intermittent" glow plug light yesterday morning. It has a new relay and the light will come on if you cycle the key 2 or 3 times. The relay always "clicks" even if the light isn't on and the car still seems to start just fine. This happened suddenly and I'm wondering if it is related to the glow plugs themselves. I've checked the archives and everything points in that direction, but I wanted to obtain some additional comments. Thanks in advance.

I've had the same problem since I bought my 87 300D. The light comes on about every other time, but the glow plugs always work and test out ok. I haven't figured out this one yet.

similiar problem on 83 240d. posted here. response was to remove bulb and clean it and the contacts.
