Forum Gender Check
OK, this whole thing with JenTay has me wondering just how the water is mixed in this pool.
Please take the poll.

That thread was an embarrassment. It's now painfully clear that not only are there no women in this forum, but also that members here are so otherwise engaged that it's been years since many have even seen one...

Here's the thing....
It's refreshing to know that there are women like JenTay who are actually willing to learn and actually get dirty with car repairs. I admire her for that. However, when a male-dominated forum like this gets a new member like her (who can talk car mechanics, single, blond, attractive, speaks german), it's not surprising that it caught the attention of most. The flirting was fun for a little while but then it got old. I propose we move on. Let's welcome her without the suggestive talk (flirting) and accept her as a person who, like all of us, wants the pride of doing a car repair job well without taking it to a dealer. As for JenTay, if you read this, I'm sure you had your fun. Thanks for the thrill but further pictures are not necessary. Thanks for listening. rodsob |

Guys guys. Jen Tay can take care of herself I suspect. but its admirable to speak up in her defense.
That being said the BEST way to move onto tech and away from flirting etc. is to stop responding and dont start new threads that brings up the muddy water. Soooo...... putting my $$ whar ma mouth is this is my last conversation on the topic. Unless of course JenTay tickles me in the ribs. PS. BTW... JenTay may be loving the attention and fun hmmmm..

My Gfriend regularly outshoots most of these "tough guy" types (using a 10mm Norma Mag in a Comdr. length 1911!) and if their ego is just too big for mortals, they usually don't come back (and that's fine with us anyway). Some walk away humbled and decide to practice and get better. I guess the jist is, I've found that given the confidence and encouragement, women can do anything men can do and with the absence of testoterone and inflated egos, they usually do it BETTER than most men! ....Now if I could just get her to work on the cars for me, I could do the cooking and cleaning..., hey..., wait, I AM doing the cooking and cleaning, AND the cars, AND the reloading, AND......, hey....., this is BS!

We had a gal here at the machine shop for awhile. She was a far better machinist than 80% of the guys I've ever worked with. And she was young (24), and painfully good looking. It really threw us all when she was hired in. The usual flirting started up. The comments. blah, blah. But it didn't take long for us to figure out 2 things:
She knew what she was doing She could take care of herself By the time she decided to move on, I had a real respect for her, and miss having her here alot. I learned to view her as an equal. Not sure what my point is. I just welcome Jen aboard, and admire her desire to learn.

Re: Forum Gender Check
Forum is a 2nd declension, neuter noun.
You might have written it as Forum Participant Gender Check. Yrs. Truly, Uptight grammatical error department.
