Shut-off valve
Changing the shut-off valve on my '84 300D. One MB dealer says i will need 2 gaskets, the other says i need an o-ring. Both want at least $113.00 for the part.
What do i actually need, 2 gaskets or an o-ring? Is this a good price for the part? Fastlane says its unavailiable (will call Phil tomorrow). BTW, i know about hooking the tab into the IP, so thanks in advance for your warnings!!! |

I am working on an elder woman's 84 sd and had to put a shut-off valve in it. I tried to get one from fastlane but was out of stock so I got one from Performance Products with 2 gaskets for about 40 bucks. No more oil in the vacuum lines now and suts off immediately!
Thanks, Adam |

I got the parts from Fastlane
I got the parts from Phil at fastlane. Does anyone have any specific tips or pointers before doing the job?

Heres a question, do i have to remove the white vacuum component (vacuum bleed off for trans?) thats next to the alda in order to replace the shut-off valve?
thanks to tomj for the pic

It makes it easier to remove the vacuum controller (white vacuum component) and get it out of the way. Use caution when you remove the plastic piece that holds the linkage to the controller. If you do end up breaking it it is easily replaced though.
