Proper Way To Use Diesel Purge 95' S350
I was told the best way to clean the fuel system on a diesel Mercedes is by running a can on Llbro-Moly Diesel Purge through the fuel system. It has directions, however, I am not clear on where the fuel pipe is between the fuel tank and fuel pump? Also where is the fuel return pipe? My car is a 95' S350. Pictures would be most helpful to me? Also, how often is the timing chain to be replaced on this car? When cold, just started the motor is a lot louder than when warm? What causes this? I know diesels make different noises when running, but can you here something very different when a timing chain gets loose? Once this motor is warm, you can barely hear is run. Thanks!

You probably have worn bushings in the shock absorber on the serpentine belt tensioner. When the engine is cold carefully press down on the top of the shock and I will bet that the noise will go away. You may have to remove the fan and waterpump pully to remove the lower bolt. I just changed them on my '93 300SD and '95 S350. Replacement bushings are not available. Mercedes charges $76.00 list and $61.00 mechanics net for this item.

The fuel supply line is the one with the small "L" shaped fuel filter. The return line is the one that has an increased diameter in the center. Both attach to metal tubing on the inner fender splash pan.

This is waht this site is all about! You hit the nail on the head! The shock bushings were worn and that was all of the noise! $60.00 fixed it and I did it myself in 15 minutes! THANK YOU!
