Well it is a annual subscription only for his site, $30/yr. However I know a guy who is starting to make one for the W123, free.

Thanks, it is in the middle of being reorganized and added to right now. I just emailed Dr. Easley about having my page linking his, whatever I don't have I may just as well link from that page.

Thanks GottaDiesel, as long as someone is making use of it I'll keep expanding it. I just wish I would have knew this a year ago, then I could have valve adjustment, timing chaing swap, oil & filter changes, tranny fluid, rear end, et cetera. Oh well they'll come around again in time.

I checked out BoostnBenz's link and I give it 2 thumbs up!
Too bad Tom's site went pay but I understand that it costs money to keep a site running. I still have trouble with linking up with his site though.

Well you are a little to understanding then, my site cost $12/yr for 100mb storage and unlimited emails with unlimited subdomains. I can also start a online store or forum and a few other things for free. I bought my domain, www.1baddsm.com for $10/yr, next year it is a dollar or two less. Maybe next year if I get so much traffic and enough web pages I'll upgrade to the $60/yr package which triples everything. Only thing that concerns me right now is the transfer, I get 3Gbs of transfer so that'll be the deciding factor on if and when to change. The only money involved on the site is the batteries, I've been going through them like mad lately. I'm going to buy some Nimh batteries and get a tripod soon. Then perhaps sometime next year I'll buy a camera that actually focuses right. His server gave me problems as well, must not been a very good one. Mine is supposed to be up 99% of the time, I have an hour or two every couple weeks that my emails give me problems but other than that it should be up all the time.

hahaha... and I know somebody even offered him hosting for free with a huge and legit reseller!

Gimmie a break -- let me call a spade a spade -- that was a crap deal, his link was at top as a sticky and then BAM! It goes pay-only.

Yea I got a similiar offer but I want to control it, I don't just want to write them.

Probably wasn't a coincedence.

He would have had his OWN cPanel -- and total control. Just like a regular hosting account, on it was FREE (for him!)

Somebody was saying his original intention with that site was to make it a fee site, so I guess he followed through with what he wanted.

I never asked about the details, they said they'd host it for me.

Thomas had done a very nice job of documenting the work but, I was disappointed in his approach to offering the site as a subscription service after the move to sticky; it felt sort of tricky and underhanded IMHO.

Unfortunately, in the business world, what he did would be interpreted as "resourceful", "innovative" or as "entrepreneurial zeal". Doesn't make it any better though...

And, he did it at the expense of a lot of goodwill.
