Electrical seats and diodes

Last week I read here the diagnosis for an electical seat that would not function unless the door was open was a bad diode.
My 81 300SD has had that with just one of the seat functions, and on the left seat only. (front of the seat won't raise or lower unless the door is open).
I searched the fuse box for the diode and could not locate it. The thread said it would be in a small gray box with two pins behind the fuses. There are several relays back there, but nothing that fits the description.
Have a few quirky occurances with the electicals on the old beast and thought this would be a good one to trace out.
Anyone have a clue where the diode is mounted on an 81 SD? Or if it has one? As I recall the thread started with a question about a 87 300D>
