Kickpanel removal help needed-'87 300D
I'm trying to access the cruise amp in my '87 300D. Have tried to remove the drivers side plastic kickpanel twice-unsuccessfully. Removed the obvious fasteners and wiggled and bent the plastic plate but no go. Can someone who's been there/done that advise me on this procedure? Thanks, Mike

You'll need to remove the two plastic panels on either side of the steering wheel (under the ignition switch and headlight knob). These should just pry straight out IIRC.
Don't forget to remove the screws under the hood release and parking brake lever. I fumbled my way through this job a while ago, and my kick panel is still sitting on my workbench while I find the time re-solder the cruise amp. |

The plastic cover around the ignition comes off pretty easily. Pry gently with a flathead screwdriver. Be sure to remove the nut underneath the headlight switch, or else the cover won't come off.
