GP Question

83 300D & CD
GP light goes on, the gp relay clicks. Now, when the light goes off do the GPs go off or do they stay on until attempting to crank over?
Thanks.

GP's should stay on during cranking and then turn off when key returns to run position.Without starting it GP's should stay on for 45 seconds or so (depending on temperature) after light goes out.
