squeaky blower motor
Hi,
Lately I have been getting a squeak from the blower motor. Every once in a while itll make a very quiet squeak once or twice when on low and going over bumps. Lately when on the auto or max setting, it will squeek intermittently all the time, especially when driving on bumpy surfaces. As of especially late, the squeek is becoming evident on the low setting as well. I assume it has something to do with the bearings in the blower motor? Can I lubricate them somehow? Id like to avoid the $150-300 cost of the blower motor... Thanks, JMH

You can find these blower motors used anywhere. Don't even consider buying a new one. You should buy a good used one and keep your old one as a spare. An easy DIY job.

You can pick up a brand new one for under $100 online i did this last week. However i also picked up a set of new brushes from Ace hardware and im going to attempt to replace them this week. And if i can get away with that its only about 6 dollars opposed to the 100 and i will just return the motor. check out this thread.

Mine had the commutator worn down to the core when the bushes welded themselves to it. I got a used one from my local indie shop for $100 without a trade.
