RT, I am trying to describe a system which will allow a perfect paint job (without compromising quality ) if the rules and effort are applied.... and one which a person without a temperature and humidity controlled professional booth can accomplish...
That is one of the reasons for the Catalyzed paint... it can be color sanded after four hours... so depending on the temperature at the persons location they have a chance of shooting mid morning after the dew has burned off.... and correcting any runs and shooting the clear coat before the afternoon heat leaves....
There is usually a time ' window' ( between hard enough to hold the next layer of paint but the oxidation not prohibiting the application of the next layer... typically a few hours ) where if you have control of all of your environment you can do it 1,2,3,4 .... but I have never owned such a combination of equipment..
Your paint job was probably not the first they every did... practice really helps...as does having plenty of labor to accomplish time sensitive operations... but the system I am describing allows for mid term corrections (of runs, etc ).... which will never be seen in the final paint job....

Hi Everyone,

I wouldn't try the prep work myself. It is the most important part of the paint job. If it isn't done exactly right it will rust or flake or peel in a year or so.

Besides why do you want to breath that stuff anyway.

Lastly, I don't think any self respecting paint shop is going to take half of a job.

Thanks.

Doing it yourself is the only way I know of to get a perfect paint job cheap.
The first part of taking the paint off should be done with liquid strippers... using a blade to scrape the loosened paint off into a disposable container.... so breathing is not an issue..
The painting will require an organo-phosphate mask... so you will not be breathing it at spray time either....
And all the sanding will be being done wet... so that should not be a problem either...
I am very careful about lung issues...
