CC Revival (Not Credence Clearwater, alas)

Hello everyone,

you certainly remember how I fixed my CC amplifier some 3 weeks ago. Silver re-soldered it. Everything worked fine. Until yesterday, that is. Unbelievable! I can't believe this stupid system. It started to show exactly the same symptoms as the last time it didn't work - it did not work.

I have to tap the instrument panel every now and then to have it illuminated. I figured I had tapped it the last time I could remember and it never worked since then. So I took the panel out, took out the speedo and cleaned the speedo steel ring (inside but can be seen and reached through a hole) that tells the CC the speed, took apart the Hall sensor (the thing that pick the speed off the ring) and also resoldered that.

The cruise control works again. Wonder how long for before something else with it shows up.

To cure the random loss of illumination I also resoldered main joints on the instrument panel as well as the dimmer. The loss is still there, it must be the supply cable. While doing that one of the 2 illumination bulbs died. Went to the local MB dealer and changed them both, the were cheap. $1.22 total.

Since then CC works. Oh well.

P.S. While at the MB dealer I also bought these 2 tranny cooler hoses that leaked. The price wasn't a killer I suppose : $68 total for them both. Interesting to know that as from a certain date only the lower hose is steel wired, the upper hose is not anymore.
