W123 as chase vehicles
I was driving home from work yesterday in central Delaware when I saw a pre-fab home mounted on a tractor trailer about a mile in front of me. This was a pretty large home - large enogh that I could see a chase vehicle with flashing lights in front of and behind the new home mounted on the truck. Well imagine my surprise when I see that the rear chase vehicle is a early 80's 240D!!! Way cool!. As I carefully pass the pre-fab home the front vehicle comes into view - Yep sure enough its an early 80's 300D turbo.
I never really thought about it but this would seem to be a great choice for a chase vehicle. My hats off to the operators for keeping the old W123 in useful service after two decades. Tim |

When I saw the heading including chase, I strated to smile and almost laughed. I said to myself.... what could a diesel possibly chase? Ahhhhhhh a home on a trailer. Agreed, cool to see it still at work.

That wasn’t a chase you saw, it was a race. And the flatbed carrying the house was winning.
