W123 Action Movie
The 1981 movie Four Seasons with Carrol Burnett and Alan Alda features a china blue 300D. It's a neat movie, and you see a lot of the car. It actually winds up sinking in a frozen lake. Of course, its owner is neurotic.

I completely forgot there was a 123 in that movie. Wasn't it a wagon? I now remember feeling that it was a crime to watch that car go under.

There may have been a wagon but the car that stole the show was a China Blue non-turbo sedan. I don't know what car they actually in the driving scenes, but it seemed to get along quite nicely.
One of the lines was "Don't eat in the car, the crumbs will get into the seats, and they'll never come out... The value will go down by $500.00, do you want to eat a $500.00 sandwitch?" Making Alan Alda to resort to go hungry. I knew it was a comedy when the car went down the owner says "My Mersaydees! It would have been worth twice what I payed for it three years from now!" Yeah, right! |

Notice how they switch between a W116 and a W123 through the movie. If you are a true enthusiast, you'll pick it up.
"AAAAAAHHHH, MY MERCEDES!!!"(sploosh)

So THAT's what a W116 looks like without rust.
I just wish Cox wouldent compress the video so dang much. It looks crummy with the little compression squares all over the screen. |

Just rented "City of Ghosts" and there's a nice yellow/tan? 123 sedan all through the movie. Appears to be a '79 or so. It was filmed in Thailand/Cambodia and the car looks like it's from there, dash is perfect, no cracks to be seen.

Yeah, I did catch the switch, but the W123 was indeed the car you saw most. That first road scene was a 450SE. As for Jim Dandy, well, there's no accounting for taste. From you posts, you sound very young. With movies it pays to broaden horizens and look at the writing. Heck, they knew enough to use a Merc! I like Alan Alda, so, its worth a look.

You know, you have a point about the MASH thing. I really don't care either way. I seem to not even the remember the flick when it was new... In fact, I didn't know it existed until yesterday.

I'm happy to say that I like "Four Seasons." I don't care for MASH, but I DO like some of Alda's acting "skills."

So when's the "special" edition DVD going to be released? I mean, it's such a good movie and all. |
