Towing with 300SD

I have a small (2000lb) travel trailer. Does anyone tow with their 300SD? Towing Capacity? Towbar used? Thanks.

I have a slightly lighter capacity utility trailer I pull with my 190, it does just fine. I had a custom reciever hitch installed (the shop that did it had a picture of a Rolls Royce with a hitch.) Just make sure your transmission and its oil, and your brakes are in good shape.

Towing with my turbo diesel Peugeot I found out I had an oil temperature light, but it was a very long hill on a very hot day

Yes. Now that reminds me. Brake controller will need to be wired in. My real tow vehicle has the controller circuit wired in from factory. Just have to plug in contoller and roll.

May never do it, but would be an interesting sight, you must admit.

I bought a trailer hitch for my TD before I noticed that my bumper was held on with cargo rope on the passenger side. The manual said very clearly NO MORE than 200lbs from the trailer neck on the ball hitch and 2000lbs total weight.

I would get new bumper mounting bolts and nuts just to be safe.

A hitch designed to haul 2000 pounds is going to be attached to something more substantial than that bumper.
