Part # for dashboard temp sensor for ACC in 84 300D?
Hi,
I broke it. What a dope. My ACC was not functioning and when I went to replace the foam (which I knew disintegrated) I found the hose and housing for the temp sensor were disconnected. I tried to reassemble and I snapped the little sensor off. Does anyone know a part numbers and sources for the following pieces? --dashboard temp sensor --the plastic housing that holds the temp sensor and connects to the hard plastic hose (it is white plastic in my car) Thanks! i'm going to follow this too, because i did the same dang thing, grrr:(

I called Phil, he came up with part number 1268301772 which is an A/C E.T.R. Switch. It looks very close to what I broke except the base on this one is rectangular and I have a round base. Phil's part also has what looks like a plastic housing to protect the piece that I snapped off on mine. So, it does not appear to be the same part...any advice? I'll post the picture below.
84300DT Is the part in this picture the same as yours? Or do you too have the round based piece? Chuck |

My assembly looks like this:
The top (black piece) is the mini-grill that slips into the hole in the dashboard. The temp sensor slides into this piece. The round black piece is the temp sensor, minus the part I snapped off that fell into never-never land. The mini-grill / temp sensor assembly then slide into the white piece and lock together. The plastic hose slides onto the barbed tube on the right. Advice? |
not sure but...
i recall mine was round. the sensor end was not protected at all.
the 1st picture is certainly different looking. the plug end looks the same though. grr, i'm gonna have to take the glove compartment out again. it is kind of annoying the heat is either on or off - no in between. same with a/c. edit: your second pic is exactly the same as mine. the part i broke was that little round piece off the sensor tip end . it seems to be missing from your pic as well. |
The top is 123-830-0572, and the bottom piece is 126-835-0079. The piece in the middle probably goes with either the bottom or top, as one piece.

Ok the top photo that Phil gave you is correct in that it is a AC ETR unit. This item goes in the heater/evaporator box BEHIND the center consol.
What your asking about is the cabin temperature sensor that in on the top center of the dash. Job number 83-640 http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/123_DISK2/program/123-cd-index.html Dave |

Heres where the ETR sensor goes. This is the center of the heater/evaporator box right behind the Ac controls.

Just so you know. You did break your temperature sensor. You will probably have to get it at the dealer.
Here is a picture of mine. Notice the flat metal unit inside. that is what went to never-neverland (watch out for Michael ). Dave |
dave, yes that's the little bugger that broke but where to find one? that is the question. the dealer i went to didn't have any and said it would have to be ordered from germany!!!

1. Do a Google search for "Used Mercedes parts" and start calling.
2. Check the other Mercedes dealers near you Dave |

Phil was able to find the parts...you can order them through the PartsShop link at the top of the screen. They are 123 830 05 72 SENSOR,INSIDE AIR TEMP '81-> $30.00 126 835 00 79 THERMOSTAT $4.50 I am guessing (hoping) that the "sensor" part is the black grill and the white cup and the "thermostat" is the piece that sits between them. We'll see in a few days, let me know if you want confirmation on this. dmorrison Thanks for the advice, photos and link to the repair manual site! speedy300Dturbo Thanks for the part numbers speedy, I just got back from a dog trip and got your post and Phil's email in the same inbox! |
