Played in a junkyard today...
...and saw something really sad.
It was a 190D 2.5 that looked to have no body damage. I took a look inside, to find that it was a 5 speed. I'm guessing the engine was blown, but I know that that's a rather rare car...very sad. In other news, I found an '83 240D that I snagged some parts from. The most notable is an operational auxiliary electric fan, to replace the one in my car that the bearing fried (and took the brush housing with it) on. I also got a couple of driver's side door catches (mine had partially broken, so it was necessary to slam the door), and most importantly...an oil separator. With the 240D oil separator, I can now get rid of the stock air cleaner and put in a cone filter. I have to ask real quick, though, should the oil separator be cleaned out? If so, how? It doesn't look like it can be opened... Thanks! |

great finds warden- not sure how to restore the oil separator other than try soapy water to try to clean it out.

Anybody know if the 5-speed tranny would fit a 617.952 5 cyl turbo diesel engine?

Warden, which junkyard was it? I'm in the Bay Area this weekend and might stop by if the 190D is still there.
