My puppy goes berserk in the snow!! She loves the stuff:D

"Here" is Austin, Texas....Stella and Molly like the snow too. They're just not used to having it in their own back yard.

I was in Louisiana (near Lk. Charles) in 1978, and it snowed one day. They all but shut down the whole state! Was pretty funny to us northerners:D

Hehe....absolutely! Around here, it will be mayhem on the streets if this stuff lasts till noon tomorrow.

Once, when my kids were little (like 4 and 1...they're now 23 and 20) it snowed THREE times in one season...one was a huge snowfall for us; all of 3" - 4". The next winter, they were asking every time it got cold, "When will it snow? Is it gonna snow?" ...sort of hard to explain meterology to a dissapointed 5 year old.

The 23 yo lives in New York now...after spending two winters in Maine and two in Alaska. Musta been deprived as a child.

About 1000 years ago I spent a year on Lackland AFB in San Antonio. I remember an inch of snow closing the city, causing people to drive into ditches, closing schools, and just wreaking havoc. I also remember it being completely melted by 10am.

Woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow in Dallas this morning. Several inches of the wet stuff covering the ground, trees, everything. My dog absolutely loves it!

I went to the mountains 2 weeks ago to assist a friend of mine having his newly acquired Lancia 2.5 TD towed home on a trailer. This is how the country looked like. Of course snowchains did not work at all in that sort of terrain (imagine pulling a trailer with yet another car). We had to be towed by a tractor. We had to wait for it for 40 minutes because it was parked in the Lancia owner's garden, covered with snow and it took some considerable time for the guy to make the tractor move itself out of the snowy garden.

Wow! I thought you guys had state laws stating snow was not allowed in Texas! Hurry Randy... find a hill and get yourself a toboggan! (do you know what that is?). Though I bet the stores are sold right out of tobaggans and snow shovels. Another great pasttime if your dogs like to fetch is to throw a snowball for them to bring back, then watch them root through the snow looking for it. :p

Being tasked with Homeland Security, "Fetch" isn't in their job description. Unless there's some known Al-Qaeda cell in the direction that you've thrown an object, they'll look at you quizzically wondering, "Why in the he** did he do that?"

We did but, the Republicans are in charge these days and damned anything can happen.

BTW-I've already had a couple of calls this morning from people telling me that they weren't getting out because of the weather ;-O. FWIW, now it's about 42ºF, the streets are perfectly clear and the sky is clear. It's done.

I am in far NorthEast Texas, almost in Oklahoma (God forbid) and there's already about 4 inches on the ground. I had to take a broom to the satellite dish about an hour ago and it's already covered again, preventing a signal.

It's still coming down hard, but it's not sticking to the roads. I have to drive to Kansas tomorrow, but it's supposed to be up to 50 by then.

I will have to date myself to explain how I know this...

But about the 27th of January in 1949..... I arrived home in San Antonio ( having been born on the 20th at Ft.Sam Houston) to 5 inches of snow on the ground....
That same week Austin set its all time low at minus 2 degrees...
Thankfully I was bundled up.... or maybe ' Swaddled' at the time ..LOL
