Are the Diesel's moving up in price??

As you know I am always looking for another MB Diesel, and it seems to me that the prices for MB Diesels are on the way up...I know this one has 66K miles but WOW..

I wonder what kind of "power" he was making reference to on those "8 way power seats?" Let's see...you pull the handle and then what happens?

Did that one that was under 10k miles bring the $22k that was asked? All I know is, I'm holding on to mine with 104k miles.

There is a fairly ragged 240D auto showing 90-something thousand on the odometer on a used car lot here, there asking $1500. It's been there a long time, and I predict it will stay there longer.. I politly told them they were nuts.

On that 300, it says it has 8-way power driver's seat, and of course it's leather he says! :p

What power seats... Something doesn't look right to me about those seats other than not being leather. It might be just the light reflection...

2 questions

I am going over the usual things on my new 81 SD and found one things I have not seen before and and idle queation.

Frist engine is very clean ,there are stenciled white numbers that come from behind the water pump they are an inch or so high and the last 2 numbers are 95,then there are two quarter sized red dot and on white dot on head?

Second and Ive never had this on my other two diesels ,at idle especialy when cold it surges upand down about 150 RPMs ?

William - I imagine that is the rack dampener making it do the surging thing. You can try adjusting it out or do a search on here and read all about replacing it.

I am of the opinion that prices are going up on good examples.

As to the thread title, Get Real! The prices on these cars will not increase for a number of years IMHO.

Have a great day,

I will respectifully disagree with you Larry. Have you priced out a low mileage, showroom condition 240 or 300D lately?

euro and yuppie buyers

Hello Everyone.
Euro and yuppie buyers are draining the market and running the price up.
Have a great day.

If this is the case, maybe it's time to put them back on the road.

I still would expect this rising price to only apply to the premium condition cars.

Have a great day,

Not true.

Hello LarryBible
Not true.
I know two shops, one in Illinois and one in Floridia.
Both shops; take orders from Europe, find the parts cars and strip them here, ship the parts out, they will not sell anything in the USA.
When Sven Yoineded needs a good used engine for his 240d and his wifes 300SD, do they pay $$$$$$$.$$ to MB,
$3000.00 each for a rebuild or $1,500.00 each for USA used engine.

Grab them while you can.

The demand is staying the same, as good example become hard to come by, so prices will go up. I think it's safe to say these cars have bottomed out in the used car market. If the condition of a car stays the same I predict resale will not change much on said car.

Low Mileage = High Prices

With the long term life and reliability of our cars, it does not make sense to me to pay out the wazoo for a low mileage car.

Yeah--if I am looking to buy a cadillac cimarron or other POS, then I want low mileage. However, I don't care if a well maintained 300D has 200K+ on the clock. Certainly not going to pay a premium for one under 100K.

Besides, you get into the issue of the car having sat for a long long time and possibly disintegrated hoses, seals, etc....

Possibly as time goes by and people realize the gap in quality of the present and the past, the prices may go up.
