One Last tranny question...
Hey All,
Great forum! I must admit that I have been lurking here for some time and have only now decided to come out of the shadows. I have been reading you recent posts on tranny's slipping and I have been having the same problem. Here is my issue: I have too much vacuum reaching the modulator (21"@idle/11"@full throttle). I checked my plastic t orifice and it is smaller than a 16th of an inch (smallest drill bit I have). I cranked the regulator valve down all the way. The best I can get (with the regulator valve down all the way) is a constant pressure of 9". Does anyone know the exact size the orifice is supposed to be ? What is the pressure at that T on your diesel? Should the regulator valve be able to drop 21" of pressure down into spec range? If had any money, it'd already have a stick in it. But if I don't fix it I don't have a car to drive. Thanks in advance all!! -Matt-

If you have a vaccum pump/tester like Mytivac, you can test the action of the vaccum control valve off the car. It's quite easy to take it off.
The vaccum should be linearly dropping to zero as you move the linkage to the full throttle position. Play with it off the car and you'll get to see if the control valve is shut. Im my case, the valve was already worn and leaking bad, a new valve cures it (about $140, ouch).
