350SDL Belt Tensioner Spring - One End Is Painted Blue - Why?

I have a new belt tensioner spring to install along with the tensioner shock. I notice one of the hook ends on the spring is painted a blueish color. Does this mean that the painted end goes in the up or down position, does it matter?

Thank you.

The two that I have replaced were on a 124 and a 210. I do not remember one end being different from the other. Do they look the same? If so they were probably just marked a certain way during manufacturing for some comunication purpose.

300SDLLLL,

Are you saying the painted end should be on top when mounted?

Thank you.

I'm not sure if I noticed any paint on the belt tensioner spring on my 87 300D, but I did have a look at both ends of it and they seemed identical to me.
