240D Proper Valve Clearance?? Correct answer
Hey,
Once again, I searched and found a few different numbers... Is there anybody out there that actually knows the Exhaust and Intake numbers for a 1983 240D ?? Please help me out... i am adjusting the valves early in the morning |
Intake cold .10 mm
exhaust cold .30 mm |
I use 016 and 006

Mine are out of the 91 printing of the 616 manual ... maybe they are expressed in Metric units ? Or maybe the non sodium valves expand more or less.... I don't know ...
But it is funny that we have managed to repeat his initial problem... more than one answer.... LOLOLOLOL |
which one is right then ?  :D
|
I thought that there was a sticker or plate under the hood by the radiator that gives that info. Maybe I'm wrong?

Sorry for the confussion. I am using parts of inches and Greg is using the more correct, parts of MMs. Which ever "feel-her" gauge you have will work.:D

Wasuchi has the right answer. If in doubt, the correct valve clearance should be on the emissions sticker.

Yep, and I just looked and there are different numbers for below 30C and above 45C...... I don't know that I'd want to do it while it was much hotter than 45C.
