water in spare tire compartment on 300td wagon

Hi I just took out my spare tire so that I could get at my antenna and discovered a big puddle of water in there. Is there a drain hole that I'm missing somewhere in there and how do I stop any more water from coming in there?

thanks

Mannyt

Indeed mannyt,

We, TD owners are very interested to know about the fix.
Is your car a W124 ? Mine is and the antenna is on the right. The spare wheel is on the left so no need to take it out to access the antenna.
Did you checked the foam linings on the upper inside ? Aren't they whet after a car wash or rain ? Than the third side window will be leaking. Very common
on these wagons.
Just curious so let us know...

Danny

Mine (a w123) does this too... water in the spare well and, I noticed after a recent rain of Biblical proportions, that carpet on the hatch was wet all along the bottom edge. Grrr.

But, that's OK...glad I didn't install the new carpet and then discover this leak.

Pull the interior panels off and have someone spray water all around where the problem is. As you sit inside with a good light keep your eyes peeled for the leak. If you don't find one, then it is probably in the floor area some where, and gets in when you drive on a wet day.
