Query, holmes... 1980 W123... dome light and brake wear indicator

Ash here:

So I just had my cluster out to suss the tripmeter issue I've been having... cleaned stuff up, but didn't find the zinc gear loose... so we'll see if my attention alone fixes it... anyway:

The dome lights, both of them, are no longer working. didn't pull the battery lead, but didn't have any troubles or sounds that would tell me I might have blown a fuse... haven't checked them yet, and I will... but what does the wiring behind the cluster have to do with the dome lights? Grr.

#2 My brake wear indicator is on at startup and goes out with throttle application? The linings are good in front and brand new in back (where there aren't any sensors, so nevermind that ). It HAS been staying on longer and coming on while I'm driving. Replace them? Allll of them?

Thanks a ton, y'all.

Have you looked at the inner front brake pads? I thought that I had good pads in the front until I pulled my wheels off. It seemed that the pads had worn unequally. I used to just look through the slots of my wheels to check my pads thinking if the outer were OK then the inners would be OK just the same. WRONG!
You probably shorted something when you R&R'ed the cluster, it doesn't take much to blow a fuse. The dome lights probably share the circuit with something else.
Please, always disconnect the negative battery cable when working on anything with wires.

Shall do, thanks for the reminder. Also, I strongly suspect you're right, 'cause by my eye, the antennae shares the fuse with both dome lights, the glovebox and trunk lights. Yay.

I did indeed check the inner pads... now, I didn't check the right wheel side, cause the left was so sound... there's my second mistake.

Thanks!

You'll know for sure when you pull the other wheel and open your fuse box.
Good Luck!
