Key Logic ??
Being rookie owner of a W124 300D Notice a design issue that makes me ask the question Why?? When I purchased my car I received two keys one master and a valet. I understand that the valet key will not open the Glove Box or the trunk. This appears logical, however when I open the drivers door with the valet key the trunk unlocks so what's the point? I ask my buddy in Norway about his and it does the same thing. So am I missing something or did someone drop the ball in design?

snoopy007,
No, that is the way it works. If you want the trunk to be locked when using the valet key, you have to lock it with the master key, and then the vacuum locking system cannot open it. To make the driver and passenger door locks smart enough to respond differently to the two keys would be possible but more costly and likely less robust. Hope this helps, Jim

Yes, there are two locking positions of the trunk lock, one of which disengages it from the door locks...
