fuel tank additive (cleaner) OK for Mercedes diesel?
I saw the following products at local Pepboys.
Are they OK for my 1992 300D (602 engine)? Don't they damage engine? CRC Diesel Complete Fuel System Treatment and Emissions Test Formula http://www.crcindustries.com/crcweb/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=418 Caution: Use of this product in vehicles manufactured prior to 1990 may cause some particulate fuel system cloggin due to concentrated detergent action. If clogging occurs, replace fuel filter. Chevron Techron Concentrate Fuel System Cleaner Exclusive Synthetic Formula http://www.chevron.com/prodserv/nafl/auto/content/fueladd.shtm Can be used with diesel fuel in light-duty direct and indirect injected diesel engine. I have a question about the directions. CRC Diesel direction: Pour into full tank of diesel fuel. Cheveron Techron direction: Pour the entire contents of one bottle into a nearly empty tank and refuel with up to 12 gallons of fuel. Why do I need to put Techron into 'nearly empty tank'? |

Because
when you put it in a nearly empty tank and then add fuel to the tank it mixes more throughly than just adding it to a full tank of fuel.

Maybe it has a dilution issue if it is thinned out by too much fuel. BTW, maybe check out the 126 tank filter thread for why some additives can be a good idea.

Lubro moly diesel hi-test is good stuff, its even recommended by Mercedes-Benz AG, or so they claim.
its definately better to put it in an empty tank, then fill.
