i was in dream land today. i went to a local mercedes junk yard, ive never seen so many mercedes. there was atleast 200. every model. but the bad part was i dont have any money.ive been there a couple of times so ive gotten to know them. they said i can come down there and walk their yards whenever i want. i was drooling all over the yard. i just thought i would share my experience with everybody

In Mesa?

What's the name of the yard? I need a good source and the local yard here has only one 84 SD that I have pretty much picked clean.

If you can believe it they wouldn't sell me the aux water pump. Supposedly have had too many problems selling them? go figure... Probably a perfectly good pump that is going to get smashed some day. I told them that I wouldn't buy it if they gave it to me.

kmaysob, did you see any 300TD (wagons)?
Mesa sounds like an ideal place for a source of good body parts, if the cars there are mostly local (no rust!)
I need a passenger side door, and would consider driving there on my next trip to LA. Need a tel# please!
thanks,
DDH

Ya' know...

It really is comforting to know that I am not crazy. I found myself doing this same thing a few years ago. I would wake up early in the morning and wander a local yard. My wife thought I had some screws loose.

There is another one relatively close to the Tempe location which was called All Mercedes Parts. It was actually in South Phoenix. I would have to look at a map to remember the exact location. Found it when I used to live in Phoenix and needed parts for my old '80 300D. The guy had many good parts cars out there and he wanted next to nothing for the parts. He had several semi trailers on the lot which had shelves in them stacked with good used parts. Can't remember the owners name, but I seem to remember him being a very nice German fellow.
