300td transmission
As a matter of preventitive maintenance I took Ruby to a new place Thursday for an oil change and transmission service. After returning home from NY (I live in Md.),I was told the car would be ready that afternoon. They never called, and when I called them I was told that the parts hadn't been delivered until 11 and by that time it was too late to begin the work. OK,I'm starting to get an alarm. On Fri., No call. I call at noon and am told that the car won't shift properly, and they are draining the fluid (65.00 worth of amsoil) to acertain the problem, but that it doesn't look good. No *****. The modulator valves and adjustments were done recently and she's been great. Anyway no call, and here I am wondering what in Gods name this guy has done. She was fine when I dropped her off. Really. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Ruby83

Life Experience Lesson #1
What cretins....the single biggest problem with 2% unemployment is that EVERYONE has a job...jeeze.
That said, NEVER take one of these cars to a Jiffy/Quick/Speedy Lube place. Ultimately, you will be sorry. The shifting problem is probably just a disconnected vacuum line near the oil filter housing cover...and, I'll bet anything that now your car won't shut down using the key either. Plenty in these hallowed halls about that; ie search. Insist, no, DEMAND, that they put it back like it was...with the Amzoil or compensation for it...oh yeah, they probably didn't put diesel-rated lube oil in the engine either. Go to an auto supply and buy 2 gallons of Rotella T or Delo 400, take it with you when you return to the Jiffy ripoff lube hut. Make them drain the mystery oil out of the engine and hand them the two jugs and WATCH them install 6 quarts of your oil...no more, no less. Start and run at idle until hot. Shut down the engine and let her sit for 5-10 minutes...check oil level. Add as needed. Do not overfill.
