Turn <---> SCRUBBBBB.. (300D)
The Facts. the car scrubs somewhere (a grinding sound) in the rear that appears to be tire to body butttttt could beee? happnes when turning slow speeds. Also, happens when driving over da bumps in our dirt driveway.
. Car had "badly" wore out shocks and rubbing/grinding noise existed then. . Replaced with NEW (cheap) shocks all the way around, still rubbing/grinding sound is here. . Missing one rear sway bar link Could this be body roll letting the tire scrub due to the missing rear sway bar link orrrrrrrrr ???????

raise car in rear.
Take a flash light and look around the top of the wheel well for scrub/witness marks.

Hi George,
It could be a combination of lots of things but the most likely culprit is worn bushings, shocks and the fact that the sway bar is missing doesnt help at all. |

Replace the sway bar links.
1 hour job maximum. Your "symptom" sounds just like mine when my link broke. |

Hi Goerge,
Look for the multi-link bushes, when worn, they have a tendency to change camber/caster during heavy cornering loads leading to the dreaded scrub. |

FWIW,
I heard a nasty noise from the back of my 83 300D. Now, my hearing's not the greatest so I could be 100% off on this; the noise sounded like a grinding/scraping. It turned out to be bad axles. |

My noise only really occured when making a sharp left turn at a relatively slow speed. I also noticed sloppy handling, especially on off-ramps as noted in the post above.
Cheap quick fix and Tymbrymi is exactly right, off ramps at about 65 mph are now alot of fun. JCD |

I had a grind-scrape at the rear axle also. Turned out to be a bad rear wheel bearing. I should be changing it shortly. Might want to check your rear wheels for binding or excessive free-play.
