OM617 Injector heat shields - OK to switch to 7.5 mm orifice?
 

It appears that they no longer make the heat shields with a 10 mm orifice. Is it OK to switch to the 7.5 mm version? Either size seems to fit the injector OK.

Not only is it OK, it's preferable, that's why they don't make the 10mm any more. The less of the nozzle face you expose to heat, the less heat it has to dissipate.

Get the 7.5's and forget about it.

I found some at a parts distributor in my area for only 58¢ each. I'm going to get 10 at that price.

I got screwed at $5.25 *each* for only the heatshields at the stealership. :mad:

YIKES!!! Should've said something, I have a ton of them and I can show you how to re-flex yours for re-use (maybe once.)

Also, sorry about not calling today, got tied up with trying to sell a 3/4 ton Chev truck (no dice), just got home. Didn't feel like crawling around in the mud anyway.
