w140 engine question I saw a w140 drive by today and the trunk said "300SD," NOT "350SD." I thought Mercedes only put the 3.5 liter in the w140, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if there were some years they put something besides the "rod-bender" in the w140? I always loved those cars, but I know better than to buy a diesel version. Mb mistakenly put 300SD badges on their 92-93 W140 diesels, but corrected the problem for the 94-95 S350D. -Joe |

A forum member has one for sale. It has a replacement engine. Factory replacement engines aren't known to be rod benders. It's a 92 so it's badged 300SD. Under $10K for what looks to be a car in excellent shape. It would be in my driveway but I can't get enough for my SDL to cover the difference. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
