603 IP control rod sensor connector

I'm having the darndest time removing the control rod sensor connector. Can someone tell me which way the tab should be pointing when the connector can be removed? Please don't reference the intake manifold 'cause mine is off. Also, does the locking collar come off with the connector or does it stay on the IP?

Thanks,
Sixto

I had a devil of a time getting that connector off my 602, unfortunately I'm not 100% sure what the orientation was when I finally got it off. The collar does stay with the connector, try rotating the collar about 90 degrees, the plug does come straight out but I had to apply gentle persuation for about 10-15 minutes before I could get mine off.
