300D auto transmission going bad?

Just found this forum. haven't had my '81 300D long.

After a long trip over the weekend,
I have a problem that seems to be getting worse by the day.
At idle the car jerks and seems to want to jerk/jump forward in Drive.
seems to shift normally as I'm driving along during acceleration or if I manually
shift between Drive, etc.
the problem is only when I'm stopped.

any suggestions? transmission going bad? transmission has only 60k on it.

thanks in advance.

Those are the classic symptoms of a B2B piston in your transmission that has broken.
Try doing a search under B2B and you should find several recent threads covering the subject.
Basically the B2B is a part that can be removed externally, it is under the largest round cover on the right side of the transmission.
Best to get the car off the road asap, and check to see if that has broke. It will continue to throw metal parts around in your trans from here on out.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Re: Reference

Thanks.

sounds like this may be it, as shifting in low once, it didn't engage and just went
into neutral.......

I'm going to open it up this or next weekend.
