steering dampers are inexpensive... so go with OE brand.. should be around $25, and are the intended quality and are durable.

For the steering damper, I went with the Bilstein, it was less than the Boge and the orig was a Bilstein. Works great.

For the tie rod ends, since most of the front end components needed replacing, I figured if one tie rod end needed it, the other would soon and I'd rather pay for ONE alignment than one every other month till all the components were replaced (unless it's just a failure due to a torn boot), since they were as worn as the one joint.

Anyway, for the price and the work, I'd do the whole tie rod with both ends. It'll cost you more in the long run if the other end is as worn as that one and goes out soon and you need to replace it AND pay for another alignment.

I'm the "fix it BEFORE it leaves you stranded", or the "fix it while I'm working on it so I don't have to worry about it" or the "fix all of it so there's only one alignment (that I CAN'T do myself) charge" kind of person. As opposed to the P.E.H. kind of guy.

The steering damper will minimize vibration of the steering wheel when travelling high speed on less than perfect road surface. Easy to check, drop one end and you can check the damping action.

if you need a 1/3 of the front suspension wear items I would go all out and do everything else too. That way car is going to be in prime condition afterwards.

ordered it along with about 20 other small parts today. should be here in the next couple days. can i just change the tie rod ends and set them back in the same adjustment as they were(count the threads). will they make much difference in the steering or ride?

Just try to approximate the same length as the one you remove, it will be very close.

I replaced EVERY front end component on mine all at once, tried to keep all the distances the same and it tracked really well. Still had it aligned since everything was new, but the shop said it just needed a little here and there to bring it in perfect (and gave a printout from the align machine to prove it.)
