Diesel Detail Day...Then Rain (PICS)

I washed and waxed both diesels this weekend. As luck would have it, rain started before I had the chance to take the pictures.

Anyway, I thought I'd share the end result.

87 300SDL ~292k miles

98 VW Jetta TDI ~259k miles

How do you like your VW TDI? Are they well built? I've been thinking about getting rid of my 96 E300 and getting a new VW TDI. Am I crazy?

Hey....

How did you make it so you can attach more than one pic in each post ? Everytime that I try to attach pics it only lets me do one at a time.

thanks

Id like to hear how you like the Jetta TDI too! Ive been looking around for a car for a girlfriend of mine, she really wants a Jetta, and at first wanted a VR6. Now ive convinced her that diesel is the way to go, but before she makes the move id like to hear from current owners, like yourself. Are they as durable as Merc diesels?

Well, if it means anything, I had a Northstar Caddy STS and a supercharged Bonneville prior to owning the TDI. I took a job transfer and had over 100 miles each way to commute, so I traded the STS on a new TDI in late 97 and kept the Bonnie. I never looked back.

Several years and 260k miles later, the TDI has proved extremely reliable and is a great every day commuter. Early on, I bumped up the power quite a bit using various methods. It's still a hoot to drive and will outperform most other small and midsize cars out there. All that and it still returns about 47mpg on average.

I'm not too sure how the new A4 bodied cars compare, but I've had nothing but good things to say about my A3.

I just loaded the pics to my webspace, then linked off of that by using the IMG button. Typed the address in, then repeated the other seven times. The command looks like the following, minus the asterisks....

It appears that you are very particular with your cars. I am sure your maintenance is spot on too...

You will probably get tired of your cars before they wear out...

Let us know if you are going to sell one..

Sharp A3 Jetta and the Benz ain't to shabby either. I hope you are a member of TDI Club.com , we have a really good club and have GTG on regular basis. I just came back from one in MI this weekend. There was a sharp 91 300D at the meet. And yes the A4 cars are solid dependable and several on the forum have A4 cars with over 200, 000 miles on them.

If you want a nice '01 Golf with 232,000 miles on the clock a member is thinking about selling one. I've seen the car and looked it over good while it was here at the house for a GTG. Hard to believe a car with that many miles can be so clean.

Clean cars Lance. How about some interior pics of the SDL?

For those asking about the TDIs.... we don`t own two for nothing. We`re planning on seeing these to their maker. And, at least in my opinion, the TDIs are more fun to drive around town. Of course, nothing beats the MB on the highway for comfort.
