Have there ever been . . .

Have there ever been meet and greets in the Austin area?

I see a lot of folks here that are in the general area and I'm curious.

leathermang and some others did a big one here in Austin a couple of years ago (before I was into Benzos) out at McKinney Falls State Park. And, he and I talked some about doing another one last fall but it never materialized. Personally, I think it's the planning for 'the big one' that gets in the way of having any sort of 'GTG.'

I think it would work fine to simply invite Centex area Benzo owners to congregate somewhere for an ad-hoc tailgate party some evening each month.

If we met at the same place, same time each month, pretty soon it could eventually become an event.

My criteria would be:
Plenty of parking
Nearby restaurant/bar (potties, food etc)
Easy for most everyone to get to (ie: not out in the sticks)

Here's some possible GTG venues w/amenities:
Filling Station on Barton Springs Rd. (nice theme too but, parking not too visible from the road tho)
Frisco on Burnet Rd.
Top Notch on Burnet Rd.
Dirty Martin's
Burger Tex on Airport

Venues w/o amenities:
Zilker Park
Northwest District Park
Garrison Park

Other ideas anyone?

I was busy cooking... so did not take any pictures...
Then when the pictures were posted they must have been on a post that TxBill started.... which was deleted when he had all his posts deleted....

I met up with leathermang and TXBill back in July '02 between Austin and Houston...although I guess it doesn't really count as a GTG; it was more of a semi-emergency compression check before I drove a new-to-me car almost 2000 miles home.

I think about 3 gallons would be enough to paint the entire town.

Sounds like it has not grown much since I was there in 1973...
One of the guys in our motorcycle club hit a deer on the way back... he decided to wear full coverage helmets after that... destroyed an expensive bike... did not do him too much good either...
