Maybe

As you can tell from the sticky at the top of the page you can never tell what the real worth of a car is by the advertisement.

I myself have NEVER purchased a used vehicle from a stealership. I find it advantageous to meet the owner(family, neighbors, and see the home, yard, other possesions, etc.). Only then can you tell the true nature of the owner and there honesty and integrity when it comes to pride of ownership.

IMHO You can never sustitute for meeting someone and seeing how they live. It all becomes real obvious fast.

So much for the sermon but it has never failed me yet. If your looking for the real dream machine you probably wont find it from a dealer and the owner of one wouldn't let it go to a dealer in the first place!!

Nice looking car, tachometer is broken though.
Love those W123 coupes they have always been
my favorites

leathermang 06-11-2004 05:10 AM

Have you asked them what their reserve is set at ?

Jimmy Joe 06-11-2004 05:40 AM

imho, I would have to drive her and climb all over it for that kind of money. Sure looks sweet, but they always look nice in the pics, and that photographer clearly knew what he was doing.

vwbuge 06-11-2004 06:07 AM

That is a bit much $$$$$$$, don't you think?

I know of one for sale up here on Cape Cod, in Chatham. It is smoked silver and appears to be in mint mint condition and is a private sale.

I'll inquire about price, if you are interested.

My guess is that it comes from a wealthy estate and probably been serviced at MB all it's life!

How the hell do you wear out HOOD SPRINGS? Mindboggling.....

As is the price. For that money a private seller would polish the knobs.....

300cd

that might be the next MB I purchase - not that exact car, but I REALLY like those diesel coupes!

Don't doubt your experience, but mine was 180 degrees opposite. Bought from a dealer in PA (i'm in California). Car was 100% exactly as described, no surprises whatsoever. Salesman even put me in touch with previous owner.

Now, I will admit that my dealer had over 140 feedbacks, 138 positive, and said he's sold over 300 cars on Ebay. I did like that track record. And I disagree with your perception on owner's not letting 'dream machines' go to a dealer. My experience, including as a finance salesman in several dealerships 20 years ago, is that many, many times, the best vehicles are owned by people who do not care to sell them by owner. They, in fact, do not want people coming by the house, 'seeing how they live'. They trade. Many of them don't really care if they get a couple grand less, their privacy is important to them. Good dealerships (rare, but out there) take great care of these customers, and can end up with awesome 'dream machines'.

I'd second the advice to try and find out the reserve...if that's possible. And it's always a risk...

TomJ 06-11-2004 05:17 PM

Too much.

If this sells, I'm putting mine up with the same reserve!

Jimmy Joe 06-11-2004 05:39 PM

Ya, I think I will put mine up for sale too, and then buy two or three of em. :D

I'm always weary when I see those

Louis, the dealer is treating everybody like a child. This is another example of a typical condescending dealer who thinks everybody is a moron.

They irritate me so badly that I'd like to shoot them.
