repairing seat springs

What should it cost to have drivers side seat springs replaced?
The car is an 85 300 D with leather seats.
Thanks

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

I'd really like to get some ortho seat cushions in my car because those original seats really make my a$$ sore on a long drive.

My post was on using the Mercedes "foam seat spring coil pads", part# 126 914 22 15. They are a retrofit part to firm up the seat.

I ended up using:
1. New horse hair seat pad.
2. The above referenced foam coil spring inserts.
3. Closed cell (dense, expensive) foam for motorcycle seats stuffed into the mattress springs of the seat spring assembly.

Mine are VERY firm, not too Mercedes-like, but what I wanted.

I tried a lot of stuff (tennis balls, etc.) to firm up the springs, but that's what worked best for me.

One of the guys here used "pool noodles" and I think that would be excellent after becoming quite familiar with the innards of the 126 front seat (I've had the upholstery off/on four times driver's seat).

Try on search and I think you'll find better information than mine. It's jbaj007 (my kids anagram idea , not jabj.

Are those foam seat spring coil pads a dealer item or are they available from someone like Fastlane or Rusty?
Would rebuilding the seat cushion be a relatively easy DIY job? I've taken a seat cover off another car but I've never put one back.

Dealer item. They actually were back ordered (Fontana or Germany, can't remember). Cost was ~ $8.00 ea. from my dealer who never met an excessive mark-up he didn't like , but cost could be anywhere on/off the chart by now.

ALWAYS double-check any part #'s I mention, as I try to be accurate, but, welllll...you know how it goes .

I think Mercedes designed the seats for them to be taken apart by guys like you and me; a good DIY job.

Greg, I am trying to lose some weight so I don't look like Jaba the Hut. 220 lbs(start)>210 lbs.(now)> ~195 lbs(goal). I am 6'3"+ so it's not that noticable .
