UPDATE
 

Spent a good part of Saturday checking things out on the front. Only thing appears to be badly worn tie rod ends (which I knew about) and the steering dampner (which I suspected). Could not get in to Dallas to get parts on Sat. (ran out of time) so I am getting the parts this week and will install.

Tires, weights, lugs, wheels all look OK. Drove 240 miles today on highway but stayed under 65 mph. No violent shaking but did have some vibration at 65.
