There's a five liter twin turbo diesel running in the 24 hr of Le Mans. :cool: :cool: :D :cool: :cool:

David Hobbs just said it was a VW V-10 TDI... Hmmm... He said they were having tremendous trouble with breaking all the driveline parts due to "excessive torque"!!!

Quick Google search only came up with a few notes that both Ford/Cosworth and Audi might run diesel cars in 2005. Diesel was run in LeMans many years ago by... ahhh... hmmmm ahhhh.. I think it was ahhh.. damn I forget. One of the early american diesel players.

Just an update. The 2006 regs are being rewritten for a new LeMans class for diesel prototypes that will rival the Audi performance of recent years. Audi and MB are set to prepare race cars.

Looks like the race promoters are recognizing the 50% diesel penetration in European road vehicles and diesel interest needs to be addressed at these racing events.

Maybe in a couple of years we'll see a Diesel powered Dodge Charger in the Daytona 500 run the entire race on one tank of fuel!!! Ha Ha

I read somewhere that the Taurus team is also using a 5 percent biodiesel fuel. Last I heard, they're also planning to run some U.S. events in the American Le Mans Series, so you might be able to catch them in action locally.

Unfortunately, their team website does not work for me. :confused:

team taurus is done. lack of financing was the culprit.

i think the engine hobbsy referred to was a cummins not a v-10v dub.

some rumors say audi is planning a twin turbo tdi for alms next season.
