what is this hose?

I had the under dash panel off on the passengers side and happened to see day light in the center over the transmission hump close to the fire wall. There was a soft foam tube or hose, looks like it was attached to the underside of heating?cooling? box. It was a pretty flimsy white foam that was about 3/4 or 1" ID. It connected to the top of the tranny hump and looks like it dumps to the outside. What is it? Surely not the drain for the evap coil! Any one know?

With wire wound around inside of it to keep it from collapsing?

Hose...

That would in fact be the drain, and if it isn't funnelling condensation properly through hole over tranny, it will shock you how much standing water will end up in your car! My car is currently sporting the top of a Diet Dr. Pepper bottle instead of the old foam tube. Not sure why they went with foam...

thanks fellas,

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but the power steering pump on my daughters Lexus was leaking. Man! These big hands don't fit into those close Toyota quaters. It was a full day thing for me, (only a 2 to 3 hr. job for a pro). Aaaah...what ever!

Gilly,

I didn't see a wire, it was just a foam tube with a wire type clamp on the top.
Not to change the subject, but, What ever happened to Stretch? His site was the first MB site I found. I went crazy over it! I couldn't read enough! He was a blast. Then about mid way you came in and gave it an official touch. Is he still doing anything? If so what is his address?

JimmyL,

So you cut the top off a plastic Dr. Pepper bottle and turned it upside down and made an improptu funnel out of it? I'm on my way down to the market as soon as I finish this! Unless I can figure out how to configure a Bud can to do the same thing. I have a ton of them.(hic)

Thanks for the help!

Ernie

You can check it out at Yahoo still, he just put a reply up earlier this week, as did I. As far as I know his email is still alabmwstretch@yahoo.com
He has moved from Florence AL down to Florida somewhere, where he is a auto tech school teacher, I believe.
