SOS W123rear bearing Story/Plea for tool in Bay Area.
I am in the middle a doing a rear bearing job on my 300TD and I have bumped into a bit of a problem. I took a peak at this forum before starting and pretty much everybody said don't try this at home. So of course i went right out to my drive way and tore into it. Things were going incredibly smoothly until I managed to break the rear bearing tool that I had made to avoid buying one. I got the whole assembly apart and back together with out a press or any fancy custom punches now I just need to perform the final tightenng and I need that blasted tool. If any body in the greater Bay Area has aW123 rear bearing tool they would be willing to lend me or knows of an outfit that sells them on Saturdays could you please contact me ASAP.....I will post a summary of my procedure when I bring this episode to a happy conclusion.
