Door stuck shut

I did a search on this but didn't find anything. The LR door on my wagon is stuck shut. The weird thing is that it happens intermittently, not all the time. It was stuck shut when I bought the car, then one day while driving around I noticed it was slightly ajar, tried the handle and it opened. Closed it all the way and it kept working fine after that. Now all of a sudden its stuck shut again. Any ideas here?

By the way, the central locking is busted on the car, too. Any connection there?

You need to lube the lock before it freezes up. This happens to doors which aren't used much and the orig. lube gets gummy. In severe cases the door wont open without a swift kick from the inside while pulling on the door latch.
What I've done is remove the latch from the door, cleaned the unit with brake cleaner spray, then when things are clean and working smoothly I lube it with white lithium grease.

Reverse

I had the exact opposite happen to me last night.....my drivers read stuck open.....

I ended up taking the door panel off to pull the Check strap. It was frozen in the full open position.

Took it apart....cleaned everything....now need to figure out how I'm going to keep the ball bearings in to put the strap back into the mount!!

Anyways....I have a really long weekend to figure it out....after I do the Oil, filter and lube......

A factory door strap is less than $20. In fact I think the factory door strap and the FASTLANE item are the same item.

Thx for all the info. The door popped open again on its own, and before doing anything else, I squirted it with some silicone lube and it's been working fine since. Fingers crossed...!
