Fixed my AC.
Well it was just low on R134. After reading your posts I begin to think it was low on freon. A mechanic at my dads work sudjested that we buy a can of freon, add it and see if the compressor kicks on. Well it did and it blows pretty cold. I'm going take it in to a shop on Friday to get it fully charged and have them check for leaks. Well the $130 kilma relay didn't fix it but a $10 can of R134 did.

Don't know if you've read some posts here warning not to put any type of stop-leak in if your mechanic finds leaks?

I plan on replacing the leaky part. Why what does stop leak do?

We'll according to some of the experts here on this forum, names that many of us have come to trust in their knowledge and good advise, the snake oil, as one has put it, will in fact stop leaks but will begin to gum-up everything including the compressor in short order.
They say that shady used car dealers use this stuff alot and my 190E's AC lasted about 3 weeks after buying it from a shady dealer! I've been wondering about that since I read those posts. I remeber the dealer elaborating about the AC as a primer to sell the car! Could be wrong, but it may have happened to me! |
