i made the switch.

i switched over to mobil delvac 1300 today. it doesnt get dirty a minute after the oil change like regular oil does. i bought 3 gallons of it at walmart. im glad i bought 3 gal. . when i put the oil filter housing cover on the gasket didnt seat right. if my friend tiffany wasnt standing there when i started it it would have dumped more oil than it did. i dumped about 2 qt on my driveway. im glad that wasnt mobil 1. i just thought i would post my messup for the day.

Ouch

Smile, I forgot to tighten the drain plug on an earth mover = 34 quarts of oil dumped before I could get the plug back in.

Question Cleaning up the mess made

Hey how do you guys clean up oil/transmission fluid from your driveway. I had my oil filter fall and drain onto the floor and a improperly seated transmission gasket that leaked out a good amount of trans fluid so now there's a mess on the driveway.

Would someone kindly enlighten me on the unwritten rules for oil threads in this forum. While running searches I have gathered that maybe I shouldn't perpetuate this kind of thing. I don't promise to comply, but I would like to know.

its not a rule. its just last winter every other thread was an oil thread. everyone had questions about what oil to use for winter to ease the starting of their diesel.

Go to a local Napa and pickup some "awesome orange" degreaser and some oil dry (oil dry is cheap). Use the oil dry and let it absorb for as long as needed. Then sweep it up and spray on the Awesome Orange and let it sit about 30 minutes. Spray down with a hose.

We use it at work on used engines before installing. Spray them down, let it soak for about 30 minutes and then take the pressure washer to it. We buy it in 5 gal buckets, but it also comes in small spray bottles.
