98 300 turbo injection pump

Anyone know how to re-seat the barrel in the injection pump after I mistakenly lifted it up from the pump.

I am finding out there is a "pin" that comes from the side wall of the pump that locks the barrel in the right position to the plunger. When the barrel is inserted in the incorrect position, the pin is pushed out in the pump and in most cases the barrel is seating in the wrong position compared to the plunger when you are just randomly inserting it after taking it out.

I am also finding the pin is accessed from the side of the pump. there is a opening under the shut off valve and above the fuel pump on the injection pump, metal door with about 6 screws. and the pin can be accessed when that metal door is opened.

Sounds like the guys at the SuperTurboDiesel forums would have good idea about this, as they are modding the IP all the time. I tried to create an account there but can not get the activation email even after 3-4 days now. Any one have an account there or contacts there?

If you are familiar with this IP, can you confirm my findings about how to correct the barrel again or share any info you think can help me?

My car is 1998 300TD USA model. work is being done at the moment in south of Boston.

Thanks,
Sam
