Too Hot for Delvac

I ask an oil question with fear and trepidation. But I think I've searched pretty thoroughly and haven't found an answer.

Are some climates too hot to make the use of Delvac 1 ideal? It's my oil of choice, but I do wonder, with temperatures occasionally topping 110, if I'd be better off with Mobil 1 15W50. My preference is to stay with Delvac....I just don't want to risk the oil's being too thin.

Thanks.

I've never had any problems with D1 in NM desert on I-10 cruising 80 to 90 MPH in July or TX/OK with 114* F heat in our VW TDI. I have just changed to Mobil 1 15W-50 in the MB from D1 after 3k miles, but I'm just flushing out last of PO's non-synthetic oil and the Mobil 1 15W-50 was on sale at Wally-World @ $19 for 5qt jug. I will switch back to D1 with the final flush in 3k miles (Sept) then go back to D1 and 6k to 8k mile oil changes or further after doing oil analysis at 5k mile mark. I do 10k miles in the Jetta TDI and according to oil analyis could easly do 15,000 miles.

If you are regularly over 85 degrees ..... like for the season... you can use Dello 400 40wt...
it is in the MB book...
that is what I use here in the middle of Texas....
oil usage is based on the Lowest temp it is needed to perform at...

If Delvac One can't handle the heat, you had better park it, because nothing will.

Have a great day,
