I understand "Keying"

Rant On.
Driving home yesterday in my 83 300D I'm in the slow lane coming up on a car. I looked in the middle lane and there's a white car a ways back so I signal to move. Now, I'm cranking along at 75 + this white car comes up on me sort of quick, not "I cut him off" quick or anything. He pulls to my right side, does a quick wiggle to cut in front of me, moves into the fast lane and proceeds to flip me off. What's he driving? A late model S320. Needless to say, I flipped him back. If I had an opportunity, I'd probably key him and slash his friggen tires. And I'm an MB driver!
No wonder we get nasty looks occasionally! I'm venting here, agreed, but hell some of these MB folks are really A******S! And we wonder why peiople bust off our little stars. Jackasses piss me off.
Rant Off

I'm not trying to step on anyones toes but, I usually find that a FEW new MB drivers look as us driving older models as poor wanna-bes trying to look high class but can't afford it, which is not true at all!!!!

I ran an e320 or some kind of new plastic MB the other night on hwy43 at about 2am. He was a wuss, and mine did not get squirly in bouncy turns at 100mph the way his looked to.

Was sitting at Denny's reading my new Performance Products catalog(very cool stuff), and I glance out at my car and next to it sit a nice looking black and grey w126 SD, and some big w126 gasser. This is unusual and I wish I'd had a camera. We all waved and grinned as we clattered away.

There was after that gasser an infinity something, an accord or some such, and two late model MB's. I could not even tell the two newer MB's were MB's till I was outside and saw the emblems. There drivers never even noticed the three older models.

Call me an ass, but that's just not right.

Yeh, I understand keying too and sometimes the gods smile upon the victims.

First instance: A young fellow in a japanese pick up cut off three people so he wouldn't miss his turn. They honked at him and he held up one of those large foam rubber fingers. Then he parked at a local grocery store lot. There was plenty of time to cut his four valve stems and load his door locks with crazy glue.

Second instance: Late model tricked out Honda was cutting off everone on the crowded freeway. You've seen them. They MUST get ahead if only by one car length so they can ride your bumper until they can cut someone else off. Then the gods smiled when I noticed his car parked later at my friend's body shop. I left him a note on his hood that simply said "drive safely". I used a can of aircraft paint stripper to write that note in letters a foot tall. I wish I had a cam corder to record his reaction.

I'm a poor wanna-be trying to look high class but can't afford it... actually, I found one dealer held this very opinion when I had my trap ox recall done when I got my SDL at 270k miles. Still there is no way to know if I had a new kompressor sitting at home- why the raised noses? can't we all just get along?

Not only do the new MB's look like crap, they're rated lower than Chrysler's for reliability. I've been driving old MB's since 1966 and yeah I hankered pretty bad for a 71 280SEL when it came out. Still hankering for one. The new ones do nothing for me. Yeah, a tricked out AMG S500 still can get a boil on, but a 230, 240, 280 S320, hell most others, have nothing very distinctive. If they were at least the most reliable car on earth OK, but when a Huyndai can beat it on quality (at delivery time anyway), something is rotten in the old country. I am very saddened to see a marque like this go the way of Jaguar, Rolls, Volvo and Saab. Sick thing is that the Caddy is coming back as the real sports minded super car. I'd buy a new Caddy before an MB, how sad it that?

What's wrong with Cadillac? Cadillac cars have been ranked higher then Lexus cars this year by J.D.Power on quality. The new STS (should be in showrooms soon if they're not already) is one of the nicest vehicles i've ever driven!

I was cut off by two $%#$$ driving newer STS's in the past few weeks. They looked almost new but one was blowing blue smoke and the other was blowing white. That made me feel better.

In a traffic jam on 95 on Tuesday, a black Devile(sp?) decide he didn't want to wait anymore. He started to drive in the brake down lane, well about 1/4 of the mile up the road their was two cops, one was having a word with the Caddy.

Is it just me but their seems to be a lot of my Mercedes is better than yours jerks, driving that cheap little new coupe. I don't know what it is called but it looks like an Integra with a star slapped on it.

It makes me feel better knowing that his wont be on the road in another 17 years, mine probably still will be. Not to mention mine cost twice as much as his new, and was probably bought not rented. Rant off, I feel better now!

it's the same with VW people, those with the new bugs turn there noses up at us with old bugs
if you see some one in an old vw while your driving yours, they smile, wave, or honk there are exceptions to this, but it's a 9-10 thing

IN MY AREA.....

W210: Don't even notice you, and seem to have their focus permanently fixed on the road ahead.

W140: Occasional glances at whatever Benz you drive. Much like the car's prescence, not all that comforting.

W124: Usually loaded with a full crew of passengers. Passengers are always conversing as well as the driver, and the whole lot seem oblivious to passer-byers.

EXTREMES---------

W123/W126/W116: The most friendly lot of them all. Just about EVERY one of the drivers of these cars waves at me, honks their horn, flashes their lights, or compliments one of my cars at the local Market Basket(two W126 drivers and one W123 driver did so a couple years back on my SDL).

W220 and newer models: The worst people, and easily the most ego-centric. You tell them about your car, and they interpret your vehicle as a garbage can, rife with unpleasant odor and appeal. If it's older than 2 years.
