Smile Why

Sixto. Appreciate the advice you've given me on other forums. Other than the too low price, what are the clues in this ad that the car is a "trap"? I want to get me some education.

A bit of word play. That SDL has a trap oxidizer still installed. That's all.

There does not seem to be any signs of any prior damage on this vehicle. No collision damage evident

If you look closely you'll see
that the rear driver quarter panel and
the passenger side fender is missing the
pinstriping.
This could be because of polishing the car,
but it also could be because it was fixed/replaced
due to an accident.

Clean interior that is in good shape
I don't know but I guess he missed the huge rips
in the pass. front seat.
Also the center console switches look disgustingly
dirty and the wooden trim seems to be cleaned
with sandpaper.
Something seems amiss with it also, because the
switches sit lower or the trim sits higher then it
should.

This appears to be a smoke free automobile
That white/gray stuff on the push buttons for the radio
looks looks alot like cigarette ashes.

It just looks strange to me that one would take
good care of the body and engine, but neglect
something simple like cleaning the power switches
and knobs and buttons.

Louis.

First thing that caught my eye were the body panel gaps. Perhaps it's the color, but I think mb123mercedes is on to something.

I don't think $1500 + for a car that's questionable is really low.

I smell a rat. Perhaps two!

....Now let's say someone buys the car and takes it to the dealer to get the crap oxidizer recall done. How much in free, new parts would one get?

Mine, which I bought new with 270+k miles, original trap still hanging on... got me lots of new goodies:
-new oxidation catalyst
-new front exhaust pipe
-some other new thing I can't remember.

unfortunately, the impellers on my turbo were not damaged, so no new turbo for me... though I made sure to have them show me just to be sure.

Also, they washed the car, vaccuumed the interior, and I got to drive a new c320 for a couple days. it was smaller and much more plasticy than my sdl or 300d, and despite the newness, I thought I'd really rather have the cars I currently have... maybe I'm nuts-

love those sdls!

This one has had work done on the drivers quarter and the passenger front. The paint doesn't match and the gap between the front fender and the door is off.

Can't tell about the hood, but it's definitely been repainted in those two places.

Also. the engine must have been running as I noticed that all the guages were showing readings, all but the tach!

Yes, I also noticed a very slight difference in color shades with the right front, and left rear quarter.

The gap between door and fender did look suspect in the first snap shot of the passengers side front! Following photos seem to show consistant spacing all around but only a slight off with that left front.

While the car may have been hit, and it does'nt mean the car is no good if it has, but if it did, this must be revealed, brought forward by the seller because if so, this car's real value is not that of an un blemmished example!

This is why I frown on ebay cars! Many are just waiting for a sucker and as the old saying goes, "There's a seat for every ass"

Sold!

LOL, just kidding, but my car was involved in accident(s) on the opposite corners, front left and back right. But the interior was in much better shape. But hey, at least the guy was honest about it and i only paid $2200 for my 83 300D.

Can't someone just do a vin check to see the vehicle's history?

wow, that car is abused..
when I see an interior like that, I just know the mechanical aspects of the car were neglected..

It appears that it was an MBCA Club members car according to the decal in the back window, heh..
